Kats Sushi

I love trying new restaurants and visiting old ones so I'll be posting photos and reviews of the places I eat at. Most of my blog posts will be of places in Honolulu; however, my work takes me to various cities in North America so I'll be sure to include some of the restaurants I visit in those cities.

Here's my first blog post. Lianne and I love Kats Sushi (located at 715 South King Street in Honolulu) for its great all-you-can-eat sushi bar at only $20 per person. It's a great bargain for those that are craving some decent sushi and have an empty stomach to fill.

With Lianne away in Seattle, we always try to find some time to venture to Kats Sushi when she's in town. It's hard for me to go with other friends since no one seems to appreciate eating all that sushi like we do.

On our recent visit, I took some photos of what we order. DISCLAIMER - Do not view these photos if you are hungry :)

ya know, I haven't been to Kats since the original owner moved to Las Vegas. I think it went through some growing pains from there, but maybe it's time to go again.

I've been meaning to go to Kats and the pictures look promising. How is their quality and freshness?

Hi shakezilla. Lianne is right...the quality is good (wish they used sushi rice) and the fish is fine. If you order the handrolls, you get larger pieces of fish. yum!

Hi Melissa. The sushi doesn't compare to Yanagi or Sasabune, but it fills me up. I love their handrolls best.

Michael deleted my comment by mistake, so here we go again. Haha.

Chris, the quality is good and the fish is fresh. They do tend to cut the fish quite thin for the nigiri, but I suppose that's to be expected...otherwise they'd never make a profit! I still think it's a really good deal.

Ok, I see. I'm the guy that goes to Todai's or Makino Chaya and eats so much raw fish they probably don't make a profit off me, but I heard you have to eat the rice at Kats so that will probably screw me over. Albeit, the lower price reflects that requirement.

Mike, are the handrolls a lot more filling than the nigiri?

Yeah, unfortunately you do have to eat all your rice. We still manage to eat obscene amounts of sushi despite that. And even though you didn't ask me, the handrolls are definitely more filling than the nigiri.
